American Indian Art and Archaeology

Featuring the Spicer / Nichols Family Collection of
Native American Stone Artifacts

George Nichols (1916-1983) is credited with the discovery of some of Missouri's more significant archaeological sites. He excavated and, more importantly, documented in precise detail hundreds of stone and other relics from some of Mid-Missouri's earliest prehistoric sites. You can read more about George and see some of his hand drawn maps here. His collection and that of his sister and brother-in-law Katye and Frank Spicer comprise the bulk of this sale.

Navajo Weavings, Fine American Indian Basketry and Contemporary Pueblo Pottery from an third collection have been added to round out this large and varied sale.
