318: A MEIJI PERIOD JAPANESE IVORY AND HARDWOOD CARVING

A Japanese ivory and hardwood carving sensitively and meticulously carved depicting a figure of a seated man smoking a pipe and clutching a tobacco pouch; marked on base "Tani Azuma." Measures 6.5 high and approximately 3 inches wide. This lot will be accompanied by a signed affidavit from the client that this object was in the United States prior to January 18, 1990, and is to the best of their knowledge and ability worked, constructed or compiled prior to February 26, 1976 in accordance with Federal law. NOTE: There is no International shipping allowed on this lot, domestic USA sale only. No purchase by or shipping to residents of California, New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut.
Very good condition. There are no issues of condition. The legs have raised oval areas near the ankles that appear as lines.
