Winter Lone Jack, MO A fine selection of fresh and exciting material, all gathered from local homes and estates. Begin with a newly discovered group of Thomas Hart Benton mural studies in graphite on paper. These eleven sketches from 1946 illustrate a number of the artist’s initial impressions and ideas of composition for the Harzfeld’s Department Store mural of 1947. This mural, titled Achelous and Hercules, is now a part of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
