Saturday afternoon, Other times by appointment. Every city has its hidden treasures. Every region holds surprises that surface from both likely and unlikely sources. Once again, our Spring auction of Fine Art and Antiques is powered by some fresh gems that have found their way to our auction rooms looking for a new home, which they will find on June 18th. There is no tired merchandise here, but rather estate and family pieces for all budgets.
One such find is a pristine Elmer Wachtel (1864-1929) Oil on Canvas originally sealed and framed behind glass and removed here for the very first time. Another is the big and strong oil by Birger Sandzen (1871-1954) making its debut on the open market for the very first time. Plus there are works by Antoine Blanchard (1910-1988), Francesco Jacovacci (1838-1908), Guy Carleton Wiggins (1883-1962), and many others. A collection of Regionalist Prints and newly discovered Art History items such as a 1962 interview with Thomas Hart Benton and Abraham Walkowitz printing blocks round out this category. Decorative Arts include monumental bronze mounted Sevres porcelain, high quality Royal Vienna porcelain, Bronze Mounted French Boulle Furniture, Asian Antiques, Art Glass and English Silver.
Fine Oriental Carpets from the Estate of Jody Kleweno add another element to the wide variety being offered here. There is much more.
